KUCHING, May 1: What was supposed to be a fun outing with friends turned into tragedy when a 13-year-old boy was believed to have drowned while swimming in Miri today.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 11.04am, and firefighters from the Lutong station were deployed.
It was noted that the victim, identified as Jackson Mara, was believed to have drowned while swimming with seven friends in a pond.
At 12.15pm, the victim was found at the bottom of a pond at an estimated depth of 10 feet.
Firefighters brought the victim to the surface and performed emergency resuscitation (CPR), but he was later pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel.
The body was later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
