15 from two households evacuated as floods hit Kampung Batu Gong in Siburan

SERIAN (Feb 20): Heavy downpour since Thursday afternoon and the occurrence of flash floods have forced 15 individuals from two households in Kampung Batu Gong, Siburan here to evacuate.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 5.50am, and a team from the Siburan fire station was dispatched to the scene to monitor the situation.

“Upon arrival at the village, it was found that several low-lying areas had been inundated with water.

“There were five houses affected, with water levels reaching up to two feet.

“Only two households evacuated to the Kampung Batu Gong Baru Multipurpose Hall without Bomba’s assistance,” Bomba said in a statement.

The evacuees comprised two elderly men, two elderly women, six adult men, four adult women and one boy.
