BINTANGOR, Oct 3: A total of 16 grams of suspected methamphetamine crystals were seized after police raided a house on Sing Shark Road here yesterday.

Meradong District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Tansli Mering, said the raid led to the arrest of a 51-year-old man believed to be involved in drug distribution or possession activities.

"An examination found a small bag of red zippers on the table near where the suspect was arrested.

"The bag contained 23 plastic packets of lucinar containing suspected methamphetamine crystals weighing a total of 16 grams and estimated to be worth RM1,600", he said in a statement, today.

The raid was carried out by a team of members of the JSJN Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) at around 5.20 pm.

He said the suspects were taken to the Meradong Regional Drug Crime Investigation Division (BSJND) for further action.

He said the urine filter results found a negative suspect for any drugs.

"The suspect also found that the man had a history of drug offences", he said.

Cases are investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for a prison sentence of between two and five years and an interment of between three and nine times if convicted.
