The court granted bail at RM20,000 with two local sureties and ordered the accused to report to the Simpang Tiga Police Station once a month pending disposal of the case.

The court fixed June 23 for further mention and case management.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Fillanny Siji appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by counsel Daniel Ling.

In the May 1 incident, the 56-year-old cyclist died at the scene after sustaining severe head injuries when he was struck by a vehicle, whose driver allegedly fled immediately after the crash.

The teen had surrendered himself at the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD Kuching) at about 12pm yesterday (May 5).

He later led police to the scene of the accident and to a workshop at Mile 4 here, where a Proton Satria believed to have been involved in the crash was discovered. — DayakDaily
