SIBU, Oct 11: About 2,000 participants participated in Zombie Run 4.0 at Permai Lake Park last night to promote healthy lifestyles, youth participation and community integration through recreational activities with entertainment concepts.

The PDP N.54 Warrior program in collaboration with the Silk Hill and Road Racing Club combines fitness, creativity and zombie-themed entertainment activities.

Organizer chairman and PDP N.54 Opposition Youth Chief, Willie Ling said the encouraging reception reflected Sibu community support for creative and exciting community activities.

"Zombie Run 4.0 is not just a running event, it's a platform that brings together communities of all races, religions, ages and backgrounds in a relaxed atmosphere", he said in a statement today.

He said the programme also encourages young people to participate in healthy outdoor activities and provides opportunities for family and friends to spend time together.

Among the activities provided are free zombie shows, zombie zumba, best costume contests and a zombie-themed night run for three kilometers around Permai Lake Park.

Willie said the approach allows people to enjoy recreational activities without over-competing, and potentially boost local businesses through visitor attendance, increased spending and local brand promotion.

He also paid tribute to the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for his continued support to community and youth development programmes.

Willie hopes that Zombie Run will continue to grow as a major annual recreational event on Sibu and encourage more sponsorship of sports and creative recreation programs.
