MIRI (Feb 4): Police issued a total of 20 summonses for various offences during an operation at the Taman Bulatan parking area on Saturday night.

Miri police said the operation was conducted by the Miri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division following public complaints, which included reports of four-wheel-drive vehicles (4WDs) and cars creating excessive noise that disturbed public peace.

“A total of 25 individuals, comprising 20 men and five women were checked, along with 10 cars, 10 four-wheel-drive vehicles (4WD) and two motorcycles.

“The enforcement team later issued 20 summonses for various offences, including driving without a valid licence, unauthorised modification of vehicle structures, modified exhaust systems, absence of side mirrors, failure to display registration numbers, use of fancy registration plates, as well as several other modification-related offences,” Miri police said in a statement yesterday.

Miri police reminded road users to always drive or ride responsibly, remain cautious on the roads, refrain from illegal street racing, avoid unauthorised vehicle modifications, and not create excessive noise that could disrupt public order.
