KUCHING, Oct 3: Three development projects with a combined allocation of RM1.03 million have been identified in Kabong to boost road safety, upgrade recreational facilities, and improve infrastructure at the town’s Muslim cemetery.
According to a Facebook post by DUN N.40 Kabong, the initiatives were among those reviewed yesterday (Oct 2) during a site visit and project co-ordination exercise in Nyabor and Kabong, led by Kabong assemblyman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA).
The largest scheme is a proposed traffic light installation at the Jalan Kabong/Jalan Krian–Q734 Jalan Nyabor junction, which carries a ceiling allocation of RM450,000.
Implementation will be undertaken by the Saratok District Council (MDS), with the Public Works Department (JKR) as the owner agency.
The second project involves a RM187,077 upgrade to the petanque court at Pantai Tanjung Kembang, Kabong, which will be both owned and implemented by MDS.
Meanwhile, the third project allocates RM400,000 towards upgrading facilities and infrastructure at the Kabong Muslim Cemetery.
MDS will similarly handle implementation, while the Kabong Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIK) will act as the owner agency.
Following the site visit, Mohd Chee urged the relevant agencies to take prompt follow-up action to ensure construction remains strictly on track.
“This is to ensure that the projects are implemented according to the plan and schedule set, delivering direct benefits to the local community,” he said. — DayakDaily
