KUCHING, Apr 21: A weak earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale hit Kundasang, Sabah, at 3.02am today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia).
In a post on Facebook, the department said that the earthquake was about 8km northwest of Ranau at a depth of 10km, which may have caused light tremors in the area.
“The Malaysian Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the situation,” it said.
The department also requested those who have felt the tremors from the earthquake to submit feedback via a form.
The scale ranges from 1 to 10, with each whole number representing a tenfold increase in amplitude and a thirtyfold increase in energy release. — DayakDaily
