Bomba personnel assisting with the evacuation of a bedridden flood victim.
KUCHING (Feb 21): Following floods that struck Kampung Sungai Maong and inundated several low-lying houses last night, a total of 33 victims from seven households were evacuated to the Masjid Darul Istiqlaal temporary evacuation centre.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) dispatched a team from the Batu Lintang fire station to assist in the evacuation after receiving a distress call at 8.14pm.
“The victims consist of two elderly persons, 19 adults comprising seven males and 12 females, and 10 children (six boys and four girls).
“The residents requested evacuation. Assistance was also rendered to an adult man who was immobilised and was evacuated to the centre,” Bomba said.
