KUCHING: The 3rd Mile Market ground floor reopened to the public and hawkers yesterday.
This reopening followed the completion of a flooring upgrade featuring an anti-slip epoxy flake coating, facilitated by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

“The 3rd Mile Market improvement project aims to provide a safer and more conducive environment for the public to carry out their shopping activities.

“Besides, the upgrade will offer hawkers a proper and better space to earn their living,” MPP said in a press statement issued on Wednesday.

Notable enhancements include the installation of a rainwater harvesting system, which will collect rainwater for cleaning and other non-potable uses.

This initiative aligns with the council’s commitment to promoting sustainability.

According to the press statement, chairman Tan Kai of the MPP expressed his hope that these improvements would benefit both the public and hawkers and enhance the overall market experience.

Besides, with hawkers resuming their business on the ground floor today, the public can once again enjoy their regular grocery shopping at the market.

Residents are encouraged to reach out to the MPP chairman, Councillors, or MPP staff for any updates or clarifications regarding the markets under the council’s management.
