The illegal immigrants are rounded up before being transported to the immigration depot.
KUCHING (March 7): A total of 40 illegal immigrants were detained during an enforcement operation carried out at workers’ quarters in the Samarahan and Sejingkat areas late Thursday night.
The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sarawak, in a statement, said several individuals attempted to flee during the raids, but the attempts were foiled following swift action by the officers involved.
The operation targeted several workers’ quarters provided by employers to house foreign workers at construction sites.

Immigration enforcement personnel foiled an attempt by a suspect to flee.
“All 40 illegal immigrants have been taken to the Semuja Immigration Depot in Serian for detention and further investigation,” said the department.
The operation was conducted by the Immigration Enforcement Division in Kuching and involved 30 immigration officers.
JIM Sarawak added that enforcement operations would continue to be intensified from time to time to curb the presence of foreigners who violate the country’s immigration laws.
