KUCHING: A total of 55 participants of skill development programmes were honoured by the Community Development Department (Kemas) in Petra Jaya on Monday (Aug 12).
The event held at Wellbest Metrocity Matang celebrated a significant advancement in community empowerment.
It recognised the achievements of 10 participants who completed a three-day Professional Makeup and Personal Grooming Course, each receiving a certificate and a Quick Win Kit.

“These Quick Win Kits will help them further develop their skills and pursue entrepreneurial ventures, aligning with Kemas’ goal of fostering self-reliance and income generation among the local community,” she said in her speech read by Political Secretary to the Premier, Dr Dayang Nurfizawati Abang Abdul Karim.
Sharifah Hasidah added that the ceremony also awarded 15 participants who completed the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) for Prior Learning Recognition (PPT) in Modular Sewing, as well as another 15 participants who finished PPT Pastry Level 2.
“Fifteen individuals were celebrated for completing the Frozen Food Course, which included training in food packaging and supply.
“These participants are now equipped to excel in the food supply chain, benefiting the local economy.”
She said these short courses align with the goal of promoting
