KUCHING, Jan 5: A search and rescue (SAR) operation has been launched for a 60-year-old man who was reported to have gone missing in Engkelili.

In a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 7.58pm on Sunday (Jan 4), and firefighters from the Sri Aman station were deployed.

It was noted that the victim, identified as Chin Shin Fah, went to attend a prayer ceremony with his family at Rumah Merio Tambak Engkelili on Saturday (Jan 3).

“At around 11.30pm, the victim was said to have left the longhouse’s ‘ruai’ (common area) and did not return.

“Upon realising his absence, family members and longhouse residents carried out a search but could not find him, prompting them to lodge a police report on Sunday,” said the report.

The victim was last seen wearing a long-sleeved silver-coloured shirt and dark-coloured shorts. — DayakDaily
