KUCHING, Feb 28: A 64-year-old man who has been missing after his boat was found overturned in Sungai Limbang near Kampung Long Napir since Thursday (Feb 26) was found dead today on the third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the body was found at the Long Kebar area of Sungai Limbang among a pile of branches approximately an hour and 45 minutes by boat from the location where the boat had capsized, at around 12pm.
The body was then transported to Kampung Long Napir using a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle belonging to a villager.
At 2.30pm, the body arrived at Kampung Long Napir and was identified by the victim’s next of kin before being handed over to the police for further action.
Based on the chronology of events, the victim, Hendry Sian Tama Sian, was believed to have gone out at 11.30am on Thursday to repair his boat before being reported missing.
Two villagers discovered the victim’s boat overturned in the middle of the river, but the victim was not found at the scene, prompting a search to be carried out. — DayakDaily
