81 arrested in Kuching drug sweep during Op Tapis Khas

KUCHING (Feb 6): Police arrested 81 individuals for alleged drug-related offenses during Op Tapis Khas, conducted from Jan 29 to Feb 4.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation, carried out by the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID), was aimed at curbing drug trafficking and abuse in the area.

Of the total, one suspect was arrested under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, one under Section 39A(1), 10 under Section 12(2), one under Section 6, and 68 under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

“Police also seized several types of drugs during the operation, including 9.56 grammes of methamphetamine and 504.05 grammes of cannabis, with the total value of the seizures estimated at RM2,551.60,” he said in a statement today.
