In a TVS news, Rurum Kelabit Sarawak president Dato Isaac Lugun described the historic landing as a major turning point for the community, influencing not only security but also social development.
“One of the most lasting impacts has been the advancement of education and the spread of religious values, which continue to shape the Kelabit community’s development today.
“From this event emerged a generation that values education and moral principles as the foundation for community progress,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 31).
Held on March 28 in Bario, the anniversary programme featured cultural performances, historical exhibitions, and sharing sessions with community leaders and invited guests.
The event provided younger generations with a chance to understand the historical significance of the highland region.
