BAU, Oct. 5: A man was injured after a car he was driving crashed on Smell Street at noon yesterday.
In the incident at about 12:24 p.m. that afternoon, the victim was still in the vehicle when the fire department arrived on the scene at 12:40 p.m.
According to the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak's Operations Movement Centre (PGO), the victims were evacuated by the Malaysian Public Defence Force (APM) before being taken to a nearby hospital using an ambulance.
"The bomb squad did not conduct a rescue operation in the incident.
"A team from the Bombing and Rescue Hall (BBP) subsequently carried out inspection and monitoring to ensure the location of the incident was safe", according to the statement.
The operation was controlled at 12:55 p.m. and fully completed by 12:59 p.m.
A total of six firefighters were involved in the operation involving a Light Fire Rescue Tender (LFRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS).
The operation was also accompanied by the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) and APM.-TVS.
