KUALA LUMPUR, 24th September: Serian Regional Police (IPD) Headquarters, Sarawak has recorded the Air Pollution Index (IPU) reading at a very unhealthy level of 218, as of 8 this morning.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal, nine areas in Sarawak and one in Melaka also recorded IPU readings at an unhealthy level, with Kuching recording the highest reading of 195, followed by Samarahan (188), Bintulu (170), Sri Aman (168) and Samalaju (163).
Sibu and Sarikei respectively recorded 158 readings, while Mukah (151), Rambai Hill in Melaka (118) and Miri (114).
Meanwhile, as many as 50 regions across the country recorded IPU readings at a moderate level, while seven regions recorded good readings.
IPU readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and IPUs above 300 are at dangerous levels. - TVS
