KUCHING, Sept. 20: A 28-year-old man was injured after being beaten by an individual he knew along with several others at a restaurant in the Sentosa Beach area here yesterday.
Police Chief of Padawan District, Superintendent Barry William said the department received a report about 7:45 p.m.
According to him, the incident is believed to have occurred around 7:00 p.m. when the victim was beaten with hands and hard objects.
"The incident is believed to have been caused by domestic problems. The victim was then treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) and suffered several external injuries in the head, back of the body, hands and legs", he said in a statement today.
He said the police are currently working to identify suspects and several other individuals believed to be involved, a case being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
Barry also advised the public not to make any speculation, assumptions or spread unconfirmed information about the incident, especially on social media.
"The spread of false or inaccurate information can lead to confusion and disrupt the investigation process.
"People with information about the incident are asked to appear and assist the police to ensure that the investigation can be conducted transparently and thoroughly", he said.
