KUCHING, Jan 26: Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has hailed Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud as a father figure and visionary leader.
Reflecting on his time as a political secretary and chief political secretary during Taib’s tenure as Chief Minister, Abdul Karim fondly recounted the many positive experiences.
For example, Abdul Karim said he could not recall of a time when Taib ever raised his voice or scolded him.
“Yes he did scold others, but not me,” he said when met by reporters when attending the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Entrepreneur Development (Mysed) appreciation dinner held at a local hotel here, yesterday.
Abdul Karim also expressed his sadness when he heard the news of Taib stepping down from his position as Sarawak Governor.
However, he said, it was understandable due to his health and physical condition which made it difficult for him to carry out his duties.
“I pray that Tun Taib will be given good health to always be able to be with us, as the one we refer to and ask for views as a statesman,” he said. — DayakDaily
