KUCHING (Jan 15): All AirBorneo flights, previously operating under the MH series designation, are now displaying the MY code.
The airline said this formally establishes AirBorneo’s distinct identity across all 21 airports in Sabah, Sarawak, and Federal Territory of Labuan.
The state-owned full-service airline said it had successfully completed its Departure Control System (DCS) cutover and the new operation under its own flight code, MY, marked a critical milestone in its transition to full operational independence.
“The first flight with MY code was from Miri to Labuan at 6.15am on Wednesday, January 14, 2026,” it added.
AirBorneo chief executive officer Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin said the successful transition to DCS and the introduction of Flight MY3220 as the airline’s first service under the MY code is a testament to what can be achieved through collaborative leadership and shared vision.
He thanked the Sarawak and federal ministries of transportation, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) for their unwavering support.
“This milestone also lays critical groundwork for our next chapter, which is the launch of AirBorneo Jet Operations in July, strengthening our infrastructure, expanding our reach, and enhancing the travel experience for our passengers,” he said.
According to AirBorneo, the cutover represents one of the most significant operational achievements since it commenced operations on Jan 2.
The airline said the successful DCS migration enables it to operate with full technical autonomy from MASwings’ systems.
“Airport check-in counters, baggage handling, and all passenger-facing services continued normal operations throughout the transition period, with coordination maintained across airport operators and key stakeholders.
“The simultaneous deployment across 21 airports — serving rural communities including Twin Otter operations to remote airstrips — demonstrates AirBorneo’s operational readiness and technical capability,” it said.
The airline added that the transition also establishes critical infrastructure for AirBorneo’s 2026 expansion roadmap, which includes planned jet operations and launch of regional and international routes planned for mid-2026.
