KUCHING, Dec 2: All safety measures at the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) construction sites fully comply with Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) public safety and health requirements, as well as Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) standards, Minister of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said.

He also confirmed that all trucks involved in the ART construction works hold valid Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) permits, and that trucks without a valid permit are not allowed to enter the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) construction site.

“The hoardings at the ART sites are installed to safeguard the public by restricting access to construction zones, while the plastic and concrete road barriers along the roads are designed to manage traffic flow, redirect vehicles, and provide a safe separation between the work area and live traffic.

“They are deliberately designed to ensure the safety of the public and motorists, while also maintaining clear visibility and effectively guiding traffic,” he said, when delivering his ministerial winding-up speech.

“Sarawak Metro, under its responsibility, has been and will continue to carry out regular inspections to ensure that all road safety measures are properly implemented and well maintained,” he added. – DayakDaily
