KUCHING: An anti-bribery manual adopted by the Department of Land and Survey (JTS) has come in for praise.
State Secretary Datuk Omar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said the development of the Anti-Bribery Management System Manual (ABMS) MS ISO 37001:2016 is a practical approach to enhance governance integrity and anti-corruption measures.
He said currently JTS is in the process of preparing a manual covering topics such as Land Allocation, Planning, Evaluation, Measurement, and Land Law Enforcement under the Sarawak Land Code.
“With ABMS MS ISO 37001:2016 certification, it assures the public that JTS Sarawak has adequate procedures and protections against corruption.
“This will also enhance JTS’ reputation as a department with high integrity and unwavering principles with zero tolerance for corruption,” he said in his speech read by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee during the Sarawak Land and Survey Innovation and Integrity Day (HIITS) 2024 here yesterday.
The programme attended by over 360 participants on-site was also viewed via Zoom by all JTS Sarawak staff at the headquarters and 12 other divisional offices.
“Indeed, programmes like HIITS are necessary to strengthen the overall image of the department and the Sarawak government in the eyes of the people. This is crucial to increase public confidence in every service provided,” he said.
On a related matter, he informed that 100 officers and staff from the JTS headquarters in Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian received the Excellent Service Award (APC) 2023.
“I believe this success will serve as motivation and encouragement for all parties to strive harder in rendering excellent service to the people.
“I am confident that those selected are the best among the best. The selection process was carried out meticulously and transparently to identify only those truly excellent,” he said.
Also present were Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Abang Arabi Abang Aimran; Director of Land and Survey Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood; Chief Executive Officer of LCDA Datuk Sr Zaidi Mahdi; Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (PUSAKA) Zainal Abidin Abdullah; and other representatives.
