MIRI, August 19: The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) has taken significant measures to ensure the integrity and safety of athletes participating in Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI by deploying Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS) teams at various competition venues across Sarawak.
Speaking to local media during his visit to the Miri Media Centre, KBS secretary-general Dr K. Nagulendran emphasised the ministry’s commitment to fostering a clean and safe sporting environment.
“We have deployed ADAMAS doping teams to raise awareness about doping and established doping centres at several locations. Our goal is to encourage the development of sports in a clean and drug-free manner,” said Dr Nagulendran.
Dr Nagulendran also highlighted the ministry’s introduction of the Safe Sport Code, a document launched last year aimed at promoting sports development free from threats such as bullying and sexual harassment.
“I was pleased to see officials from the National Sports Council (MSN) actively promoting the Safe Sport Code at the athletes’ dormitory in Unimas (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak). This code ensures that athletes can train in a safe environment and provides them with a clear protocol to follow if they encounter any issues,” he added.
During his visit, Dr Nagulendran was accompanied by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and Miri Resident Jamalie Busri. — DayakDaily
