Assemblyman urges authorities to speed up delayed project

KAPIT: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law and Indigenous Customs) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat has urged the relevant agencies to address the delays in the diversion project at Beletek Intersection and Sungai Kapit.

Jamit, who is also the Bukit Goram assemblyman commented that the project commenced last month but has been stalled due to the delay in relocating poles and cables at the project site.

“We hope the relevant agencies will take immediate action so that this project can proceed and be completed as soon as possible,” he said when inspecting the project site on Monday (Oct 28).

He was accompanied by the Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Watson Awan, the Deputy Mayor of the Kapit District Council, Martin Bilun as well as representatives from the Kapit Division Public Works Department (PWD) and community leader Pemanca Pasang.

Jamit also emphasised the urgency of the project, citing several significant events planned for December, including the celebration of the ‘100 Years Peace Maker.’

He stressed that this event commemorated the historical Peace Day between the Iban and Orang Ulu communities.
