All RM4.2 million in allocations from Putrajaya last year for the Bandar Kuching parliamentary constituency were utilised to benefit local communities.
KUCHING (Jan 26): Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has released his Report Card 2025 on his Facebook page.
The social media post, comprising 54 images including a cover, a chart on allocations spent, as well as photographs and captions on cheque presentations, was made available for public viewing.
“This 54-page report card is full of pictures and captions, especially recording the various plans and projects implemented in my constituency over the year, as well as the welfare and community services,” he said in a statement on Monday.
This year, Dr Yii said his focus has remained on investing in education and healthcare, which he believes are the foundations for building a brighter future for children and ensuring the well-being of every individual in the community.
The Democratic Action Party lawmaker said significant strides were made to upgrade school infrastructure and facilities, especially by replacing old and broken furniture in classrooms and staff rooms.
“Ensuring that teachers have the best environment to teach and students have the best environment to learn is a commitment I take seriously,” he said.
In addition, he said he had prioritised the welfare of his constituents, especially by supporting meaningful initiatives for the elderly and the poor, while also carrying out development programmes for the youth.
He believes that empowering the younger generation is key to nurturing future leaders who will drive progress in his constituency and the nation.
Dr Yii said his Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Service Office received a total of RM4.2 million in allocations from the federal government last year.
He said education accounted for 60 per cent or RM2,514,890 out of the total allocation, followed by community or non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at 16 per cent, health (nine percent), youth/sports (eight per cent) and welfare (seven per cent).
“The report card also records various activities of the service centre, including the continually organised ‘SPM Power Preparation Workshop’, ‘Madani Sales’, ‘STPM & SPM Reward’, ‘Tertiary Education Assistant Fund for P195 Bandar Kuching’ and ‘Love Bandar Kuching Pop-Up Market 2.0′.
“It is encouraging to note that during my tenure as political secretary to the Minister of Human Resources, I worked closely with the minister and ministry colleagues to successfully push through the Employees’ Social Security (Amendment) Act 2025, leading to the implementation of the ’24-hour Protection Scheme’ and further expanding social security coverage for workers in our country,” he said.
Dr Yii also extended his appreciation to all who had rendered cooperation and strong support to his service team, which enabled the smooth execution of constituency affairs.
