KUCHING (Jan 12): There would be no joining of any political party for Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How until the next dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

He said this when met by reporters after attending the ‘Free School Bus and Smart Classroom’ programme launch at SJKC Chung Hua No 6 here on Monday.

“I have to maintain my status as an Independent assemblyman,” he pointed out.

Commenting on speculation about the possibility of joining Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) or being a part of the present ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), See said the matter could not be discussed yet.

“I’m friends with everybody, and they’re friendly with me.

“However, I cannot address this matter now. We will have to wait until the dissolution (of DUN Sarawak).”

On flood management in his constituency, See said his office had resolved ‘quite a lot’ of flood mitigation projects.

“The two main issues often faced by those in the urban areas such as Kuching are traffic congestion, and flooding.

“We cannot wait for allocations from the federal Department of Irrigation and Drainage; therefore, the Sarawak government has allocated RM1.09 billion for a flood mitigation project for Sungai Maong Kiri,” he said.
