KUCHING (Feb 14): Five local individuals were arrested by police near Kampung Pangkalan Bau early today on suspicion of involvement in drug abuse.
Bau district Police Chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspects comprised two men and three women, aged between 31 and 46.
“All the suspects were detained under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“The arrests followed inspections conducted by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) together with personnel from the Bau District Police Headquarters around the village between approximately 5am and 6am,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Haide emphasised that any involvement in drug abuse would be met with strict action.
He also urged members of the public to provide information via the Bukit Aman NCID hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters NCID hotline at 017-592 9211 to report any suspected drug activity.
