KUCHING, Oct. 1: Awareness of road safety must be cultivated from an early age to form a productive, disciplined and responsible generation when using roads.
In this regard, the Sarawak Department of Road Transport (JPJ) through the Union Highway Safety and Corporate Unit (UKJRK) held a Road Safety Lecture and Demonstration at Tabika KEMAS Tupong Ulu, here today.
The programme aims to provide early education and exposure to children on the importance of road safety and compliance with traffic rules.
According to a statement by JPJ Sarawak, among the supplies delivered were safe crossing of roads, proper wearing of helmets and safety aspects when riding vehicles.
"Children are also introduced to traffic signs and signals as part of road safety education.
"Advocacy programs like this are essential in shaping a generation that is more sensitive to safety, as well as implementing values of responsibility and discipline when using roads", according to the statement.
JPJ Sarawak also paid tribute to Tabika KEMAS Tupong Ulu for their invitation and cooperation in the success of the program.
Continuous efforts like this are hoped to raise awareness of road safety from an early stage, thus producing a more productive, disciplined and responsible generation.
