BEM Church for Foreign Language Education receives RM95,000 from UNIFOR

MIRI, 20 Sept: BEM Church Permyjaya Iban Language receives an allocation of RM95,000 from the Unit for Other Religious Affairs (UNIFOR) to purchase church supplies and support community activities needs.

Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the aid reflects the commitment of the Government of Sarawak to supporting the needs of religious communities regardless of religious background.

"This RM95,000 allocation is expected to be used as much as possible to purchase the necessary church supplies and support community activities.

"We are very fortunate to stay in Sarawak because the government always pays attention to the needs of multi-religious communities through UNIFOR", he said while attending the UNIFOR Check Delivery Meeting at BEM Permyjaya Church Iban Language, Jalan Desa Murni, Permyjaya, here today.

He said the approach was part of the Sarawak Government's efforts to maintain religious freedom and harmony among multi-religious communities.

Religious, racial and cultural diversity is one of Sarawak's privileges that should continue to be cherished and preserved.

"In Sarawak, we have different religions, races and cultures, but we can live together with respect. That's the value of unity we need to keep.

"Regardless of race or religion, we are all Sarawak. That's why we need to work together to maintain harmony and this Sarawak that we love", he added.

He said assistance through UNIFOR also enables religious communities to improve facilities and carry out activities that benefit their respective members.

He hoped that the allocation could be fully utilised by BEM Church of Iban Language Education, particularly in meeting the needs of church facilities and activities.

"I hope that this contribution will really benefit the Church of BEM Foreign Language Mission and the community here, especially in carrying out activities and providing necessary facilities", he said. - TVS
