Bentley Music debuts on LEAP Market, targets East Malaysia expansion

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 11): Bentley Music Group Bhd (BMGB) debuted on the LEAP Market of Bursa Malaysia at a 25 per cent premium, opening at 15 sen against its reference price of 12 sen, with 10,000 shares traded at the start.

The listing, undertaken by way of introduction, involves the company’s entire issued share capital of 250 million ordinary shares.

Based on the reference price of 12 sen per share, BMGB achieved a market capitalisation of RM30 million upon listing.

In a statement on Wednesday, the musical instrument, sound solutions and music education provider said it has raised RM3 million which will primarily be used to fund its strategic expansion plans.

A key priority, it said, is expanding into East Malaysia. Of the RM3 million raised, RM2 million or 66.7 per cent of the gross proceeds from the private subscription will be allocated as start-up costs to establish a retail showroom in either Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, or Kuching, Sarawak.

BMGB said the move is aimed at broadening the group’s geographical presence, tapping underserved regional markets and diversifying revenue beyond Peninsular Malaysia while leveraging its established brand and comprehensive product portfolio.

Group managing director Datuk Dr Phua Cheng Chuen said the listing marks a key milestone for the company, providing access to a dedicated platform to support its next phase of growth.

“For five decades, we have been committed to nurturing musical talent and providing unparalleled products and services.

“With this new access to funding, we are better positioned to expand our retail presence, digital infrastructure, and educational academies, driving the future of music in Malaysia and beyond,” he said.

BMGB specialises in the retail and wholesale of musical instruments and sound reinforcement systems.

Its operations are supported by the Bentley Music Academy, which provides music education at its Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur showrooms.

The group currently operates four retail showrooms under the Bentley Music brand, with a combined retail space of about 34,000 sq ft across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang and Johor.
