KUCHING, 27 Sept: Bernice Hwang Ee Xuan and Anson Yeo Boon Xiang emerged as overall champions in the women's and men's gross categories at the 37th Sarawak Classic Golf Tournament 2026 held at Sarawak Golf Club Kuching from 25 to 27 September 2026.
Bernice, 15, representing the Bintulu Golf Club met her goal of being crowned champion and the victory was described as a significant achievement for the young player who is determined to give his best performance to capture the championship.
"I'm actually really excited to be aiming for this year's championship. Last year, I came in second with a one-shot margin. So, I want to play my best and be a champion", he said as he met the media at the 37th Sarawak Classic Golf Championships 2026 in Kuching on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Anson Yeo Boon Xiang, representing Kuching Golf Club, described the success as an important preparation before joining the prestigious amateur golf tournament in New Zealand on 25 October.
He said the tournament is among the world's largest amateur competitions and was a major focus in preparation for the rest of the season.
"I'm going to New Zealand on October 25th for the Asia Pacific Games, which are among the biggest amateur events in the world. For now, I need to rest for a while to get ready for the next tournament", he said.
More than 280 golfers representing 28 clubs took part in the tournament as they watched three days of competitive competition in a spirit of sport, friendship and friendship amongst the golf community.
The 37th Sarawak Classic 2026 was completed by the former Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan Hong Nam, as well as his wife, Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon Chan as part of efforts to strengthen golf development in Sarawak.-TVS
