Big Bad Wolf Books is back, supporting literary endeavors at Miri

MIRI, 24 September: The return of Big Bad Wolf Books to Miri not only offers more book choices for visitors, but also supports efforts to strengthen the culture of reading and literature through partnership with Sarawak Literature Festival 2026.

Miri's mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang said Big Bad Wolf Books' support for literacy efforts could help make reading activities closer and more enjoyable to children.

"Reading sessions and conversations with educators help to make books more intimate and enjoyable for children from an early age.

"Access to books is very important, especially for families and schools that need to manage limited allocations", he said.

He said this through the text of a speech read by Councillor Yee Chung Meng at the inaugural Big Bad Wolf Books Miri 2026 in Boulevard Shopping Mall, here today.

Big Bad Wolf Books said it also supported the Sarawak Literature Festival 2026 organised by the State Library of Sarawak which took place from 23 to 27 September at Miri Closed Stadium, the State Library of Sarawak Miri and Miri Handicraft Centre.

According to him, the partnership expands the role of Big Bad Wolf Books beyond book sales by also supporting efforts to celebrate Sarawak's writers, books, literature and heritage.

"Events like Big Bad Wolf Books and Sarawak Literature Festival also give visitors from across Sarawak and neighbouring Brunei a reason to come to Miri.

"It encourages cultural exchange, strengthens understanding in diverse communities and supports local businesses", he added.
