Bomba personnel preparing the body to be handed over to the police.
KUCHING (Jan 2): The body of a foreign worker who fell into a plantation drain in Kampung Sagu, Sebuyau, on Thursday has been recovered.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in a statement that the victim’s body was found at about 11.45am, approximately 1.5 metres from the point where he fell, trapped among palm fronds.
“The body was then handed over to the police for further action,” Bomba said.
Earlier reports stated that the victim and a co-worker were returning to their plantation workplace when the deceased slipped and fell from an inundated wooden bridge.
The co-worker attempted to rescue him by holding onto his hand, but was unable to do so due to strong currents, causing the victim to be swept away.
