MIRI (Feb 13): The body of a 32-year-old man who fell into a river on Wednesday was found about one kilometre downstream from where he entered the water.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the search and rescue (SAR) operation resumed at about 7am on Friday, and the victim’s body was discovered 10 minutes later by personnel from the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS
“The team immediately pulled the body onto the boat, and took approximately 38 minutes to reach riverbank at the operation control centre, located 1.3km from where the body was found,” the statement said.
At 7.48am, the victim’s remains arrived at the Bomba operations control centre (PKOB). Family members reached the scene at about 8.12am to identify the body.
The operation was officially concluded at 8.30am.
A total of seven Bomba personnel were deployed for the operation.
Other agencies involved included nine police personnel, five members of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), three medical personnel and four members of the Sarawak Coast Guard.
