ADVERTISE HERE
KUCHING: The Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) Northern Region Airbase team will be deployed to Long Lellang tomorrow morning (Sept 9) to assist with investigations into the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter accident reported at the STOLport this afternoon.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala said the deployment is among efforts to assist the authorities following the incident at Long Lellang STOLport this afternoon.
Gerawat expressed deep sadness over the FDS helicopter accident, describing the incident as particularly heartbreaking given Long Lellang’s reliance on air services for access to healthcare and basic services.
“I am deeply saddened to receive news of the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter accident at Long Lellang STOLport this afternoon,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Gerawat also conveyed his deepest sympathy and condolences to those affected, particularly the victims’ families and loved ones who are going through a difficult time.
“To the victims’ families, I extend my heartfelt condolences and pray that all matters will be eased,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to security personnel, rescue teams, healthcare workers and the Long Lellang community for their assistance at the scene.
Gerawat said Long Lellang is among the remote areas that relied heavily on air services to access healthcare and other basic services.
“In this time of deep sorrow, let us pray together that all matters related to this tragedy will be eased and that the affected families will be given strength to face this difficult ordeal,” he said.
