KUCHING (Feb 20): The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) conducted a series of flood monitoring operations in areas identified as high risk for flooding on Friday.

A team from the Batu Lintang fire station was dispatched at 9.30am to monitor the situation in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, Kampung Sungai Maong, Batu Kawa and Batu Lintang.

“Several villages in Batu Kawa, such as Kampung Sinar Budi Lama and Kampung Sungai Maong, experienced a slight rise in water levels due to continuous rain last night.

“It was also high tide at the river.

“However, the situation is still under control,” Bomba said in a statement.

Bomba advised residents to remain alert to rising water levels and to contact the department should the water continue to rise.
