SERIAN (Dec 30): A man was rescued this evening after sustaining serious injuries in a forest near a quarry in Beratok.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) deployed a team from Siburan fire station after receiving a distress call at 6.30pm.

“Upon arrival, the rescue team found the weakened seriously-injured victim, who was at the bottom of an elevated area at a depth about 10 metres at the forest near the quarry.

“Bomba personnel immediately rescued the victim using a rope to stabilise him and managed to bring him up before he was handed over to the paramedics,” Bomba said in a statement.

Padawan district police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed the incident, which is currently under investigation.
