Border control operations strengthened across 36 Sarawak’s entry points

KUCHING: The Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has outlined the latest developments and operational status of its border control and protection functions at 36 main entry points across Sarawak.

The matter was discussed during a courtesy visit by AKPS’ Director-General, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, to State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya, here today.

The visit served as a platform to provide a detailed update on AKPS operations in Sarawak, particularly the implementation of its border control and protection functions at the State’s 36 main entry points.

AKPS also expressed its appreciation for the Sarawak Government’s commitment and strategic cooperation in supporting the implementation of the agency’s roles and functions.

The agency, which is approaching its 24th month of operations, said continued cooperation with the State Government is important in strengthening border management in Sarawak.

AKPS remains committed to strengthening its strategic partnership with the Sarawak Government to ensure border management is effective, responsive and balanced between facilitation needs and national security interests, it said.
