MUKAH, 3 Oct: Sarawak Premier, High Commissioner Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has pledged to bring development related demands in the Bukah Division to the upper level for consideration and discussion.

He said the Sarawak government is aware of what Mukah community has raised, including hopes that development in the area will continue to improve.

"I took note of what was asserted yesterday and also this morning. I've already paid attention and of course we will discuss it at a higher level to fulfil the hopes of Mukah people to continue improving their situation", he said.

He said this during his inaugural address to the Sarawakku Sayang Program (SKS) Open Section here today.

According to him, the development carried out previously has brought significant changes to Mukah, including in terms of connectivity facilities that connect areas and districts in the relevant part.

He said the situation in Mukah today was very different from about 40 years ago when transportation facilities were still limited and travel to some areas required the use of boats.

"Once upon a time, it was a little difficult to go to the village. I boarded a cargo ship to get there and this is the change we saw in Mukah.

"This is in line with the development of the entire state of Sarawak", he said.

Earlier, Sarawak's Minister of Women Development, Children and Community Welfare, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah made several requests related to development in the Mukah area.

Among the requests, including RM68 million Road Rassau/Bungan Besar project, upgrades of five road sections worth RM591.3 million, water and electricity supply projects as well as construction of Open Section Integrated Waste Disposal Site worth RM38 million.
