LIMBANG, 11 Oct: Youths are warned to avoid wild culture and illegal substance abuse that can damage morality, affect the future and cause various social problems.
Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said that the country is currently facing various social problems due to external cultural influences which are not in line with local community values and norms.
According to the Balanced Member of Parliament, young people should be more careful about accepting outside influences especially those that encourage unhealthy behaviour and detrimental behavior.
"My message to our children, to our younger generation especially our girls is that it's very dangerous when we are influenced by a wild culture including taking ecstasy pills and dancing in semi-consciousness.
"This is a Western culture that should be avoided because it can corrupt morals", he said.
He said this while addressing the Cultural Night Programme at the 19th edition of the Golden Hill Day Festival at the Sungai Limbang Banking Stage, last night.
The meeting was attended by the Chairperson of MDL, Sufian Mohat, Secretary MDL and Michelle Hildalyne Jering Anthony Luta.
Meanwhile, Hasbi said that the abuse of illicit substances such as soap and ecstasy pills should be completely eradicated because not only does it damage the future of individuals, but also potentially triggers various social problems in society.
He explained that efforts to curb the activities require cooperation of all parties including law enforcement agencies, parents and communities, to ensure the distribution and misuse of illicit substances can be controlled.
