SIBU (Feb 8): The Bukit Assek redevelopment project is set for kick-off this year, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang has assured.
It is informed that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officialy launch this massive plan, covering an area of 800 acres.
“Now, Sibu is moving forward with many exciting initiatives, particularly since our Premier introduced Sarawak’s largest urban renewal plan to redevelop Bukit Assek here.
“The Sibu folks need to do their part by getting themselves ready for the implementation.
“Just as the Sarawak government took four years to prepare the Bukit Assek redevelopment plan, we engaged global professional consultants to carry out comprehensive surveys, which were extended to more than 5,000 acres to ensure the redevelopment of the planned 800 acres could be managed effectively,” said the Pelawan assemblyman in officiating at the ‘Big Deal Expo’ in the indoor stadium on Saturday night.
“We dis our homework, prepared ourselves thoroughly, secured new and alternative funding sources, and got everything ready.
“This year, I believe you will witness the launch of our Premier’s visionary plan of redeveloping Bukit Assek,” added Tiang.
