SIBU (July 6): The dedication and commitment of Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng towards the betterment of his constituency’s educational facilities and development of students has been nothing short of exemplary, said Knight of Sacred Heart Old Students Association (Shosa) and former secretary Eddy Puah.
“With an unwavering focus on nurturing the future generation, Chieng has been actively working on the ground to reach out to schools. He contributes his time and resources to foster a more supportive and conducive educational environment,” said Puah during a chance meeting with Chieng at SK Sacred Heart English here on Friday.
While handing over Bata vouchers to underprivileged students under the Malaysian Federation of Lasallian Alumni Associations (MFOLSA) programme, Puah said he was surprised to see Chieng at the primary school compound.
“I found out that YB Joseph Chieng was on school grounds to conduct a final inspection of construction works done at the school under his constituency’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
“He came without fanfare and wanted to ensure that the RM50,000 allocated to the school was put to good use with the works done properly,” said Puah.
He said that Shosa appreciates the open and hands-on approach by Chieng as the collaboration has resulted in more effective and tailored solutions for challenges the schools previously faced.
“We look forward to more engagements with YB Joseph Chieng and increased collaboration as we strive for the continued improvement and maintenance of our alma mater,” said Puah.
