KUCHING (Dec 28): A total of 400 individuals from various ethnic groups and religious backgrounds in Saratok received food aid during a recent charity programme.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report, the event took place at SJKC Min Syn Saratok, and organised by the Ji Yuan Shan She Saratok Charity and Moral Education Association.
Among those presenting the food baskets, which contained rice, noodles, bread and other daily essentials, to the recipients were Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik.
A blood donation drive was also held in connection with the charity programme.
“The event is meant to reach out to the underprivileged folks during the festive season,” said the organiser.
“The recipients comprise members of the Chinese, Iban and Malay communities, reflecting the harmony and unity that prevailed in the state’s multi-ethnic society.”
