SIBU (March 20): A total of 63 children at the Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex here received festive aid and essential items through the Charity 6.0 initiative organised by the Sarawak Central Zone Electrical and Electronics Goods Sales and Services Association.
Held on Wednesday in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration, the programme aimed to bring joy to the children while supporting their daily needs.
Led by chairperson Lau Wang Mee, the association distributed gift baskets and essential items, including detergent, deodorant, sanitary pads, and toothpaste.
Lau said this year’s initiative was particularly meaningful as it enabled the association to strengthen engagement with the Malay community through acts of kindness and mutual understanding.
“We are honoured to present Hari Raya hampers to 63 children, with the aim of bringing them joy and happiness during the festive season,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to gather with the children for a breaking-of-fast event on the final day of Ramadan, describing it as a meaningful occasion that highlights values of compassion and generosity.
“This initiative reflects the spirit of Malaysia’s multiracial society — united, respectful, and caring towards one another,” she added.
Among those present were Sarawak Orphans Welfare Board (Peryatim) board member Datuk Mohamad Yusnar Matalie and event organising chairperson Councillor Michelle Law.
