MIRI, March 11: A Chrysler 300 luxury vehicle was among three vehicles seized by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) during an Ops Patuh enforcement operation conducted around Miri on Tuesday (March 10) after they were found to have expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and no valid insurance coverage.

The operation, carried out by the JPJ Miri Branch, involved patrols and monitoring in several areas around the city to ensure motorists comply with road regulations.

According to a post shared on its social media, the enforcement operation was also joined by Sarawak JPJ director Norizan Jili, who went to the ground to observe the implementation of the operation and ensure enforcement actions were carried out firmly, with integrity and effectiveness.

During the operation, a total of 341 vehicles of various types were inspected. Checks revealed several offences, including driving without a valid licence, failing to wear a seat belt, using a mobile phone while driving, as well as other offences related to the technical condition of vehicles.

In addition to the Chrysler 300, two other vehicles including a Perodua Axia and a Perodua Bezza were also seized for having expired LKM and lacking valid insurance coverage.

JPJ Sarawak said notices of non-compliance were issued to motorists found committing the offences.

The department stressed that it will continue to intensify enforcement activities and will not compromise with any party that violates road laws.
