KUCHING, Mar 7: In the spirit of Ramadan, Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi presented food baskets to veterans and underprivileged residents from Kampung Melayu in Kapit as a gesture of care and support to those in need.

In a Facebook post, he said this followed an iftar ceremony whereby bubur lambuk was also distributed to the community at the Kapit town square on Friday (Mar 6).

“For many residents here, including non-Muslim Iban communities, Ramadan has always been celebrated in a lively manner and serves as a reminder of the values of unity, togetherness, and mutual assistance within the Kapit community.

“I would like to thank all parties involved in making this programme a success, especially the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Pelagus Branch and the volunteers who contributed their time and effort.

“May this small initiative bring benefits and further strengthen the bonds of friendship within our community in Kapit,” he said.

Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who is the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Native Law and Customs) as well as assemblyman for Bukit Goram, was also in attendance.

During the programme, which brought together residents in the spirit of togetherness during the Ramadan month, Nanta, Jefferson, and community leaders also spent some time with traders and members of the public. — DayakDaily
