MIRI (Feb 10): Samling Group has brought early Chinese New Year cheer to 10 primary and secondary schools in Miri, with a total contribution of RM200,000.

According to Samling chief executive officer Lawrence Chia, the contributions are not only given in connection with the upcoming festive celebration, as they also reaffirm the group’s long-standing commitment to education and community development.

“Education has always been a key focus of Samling’s community engagement efforts.

“By supporting schools consistently over the years, we are investing in future talents and empowering the next generation with the tools and opportunities that they need to thrive and contribute meaningfully towards a sustainable Sarawak,” he said in a statement yesterday.

“The contributions also support the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), ‘Quality Education’, which reflecting the group’s ongoing efforts in empowering the young learners and strengthening the access to quality education,” he added.

Chia also said Samling had maintained a steady and structured approach to educational support, focusing on schools within its vicinity through regular financial assistance, infrastructure support, and learning environment enhancements.

“We believe that meaningful progress in education is achieved through continuity, partnership and trust, and not just through a one-off contribution,” he pointed out.
