KUCHING (Jan 24): Construction of the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (Tegas) Lodge is expected to begin around March, said State Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
Len Talif, who is also Tegas chairman, said the lodge represents the second phase of the existing Tegas Digital Village and is on track to complete all key submissions for the project this month.
“Tegas Lodge Sarawak is envisioned as a key facility to support the digital and innovation ecosystem.
“It will provide accommodation together with supporting amenities such as a digital gym, wellness centre, surau, laundry facilities and other essential services for the users,” he said during the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia, National Awards Ceremony at a hotel here.
Len Talif added that, based on the current timeline, the project is targeted for completion in 2028.
“Over the coming months, our focus will be on finalising all necessary approvals and ensuring the project is ready to move forward smoothly as we remain fully committed to delivering a successful completion for the benefit of Sarawak’s digital and innovation ecosystem,” he said.
The overall cost of the project is estimated at RM72 million, which aligns with Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Len Talif said the lodge supports talent development, fosters innovation, and advances a future-ready digital economy.
Also present at the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia, National Awards Ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof; State Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan; Telang Usan assemblyman and Sarawak Tourism Board chairman Dato Dennis Ngau; and Shell Malaysia country chair and Upstream Malaysia senior vice president Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman.
