Sri Aman police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrests were made by a Criminal Investigation Department team at an oil palm plantation, Jalan Ulu Skrang around 3.30pm.
“Upon realising the presence of the police, a group of men at the cockfighting ring fled but six of them were successfully apprehended,” he said in a statement.
The suspects were aged between 25 and 69.
He said the raiding team seized three live roosters, one dead rooster, weighing scales, a betting record board, a plastic table, a plastic chair, and two taji (spurs) believed to be used for cockfighting.
Mathew added the case is being investigated under Section 73(1)(g) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
